o Blood can be donated by persons 18 - 65 years old and weighing at least 110 pounds
o One pint (approx. 450 cc) is collected at every donation
o A donor cannot get HIV or any other disease while donating blood
o All blood donated is tested for HIV, Chagas, Hepatitis B, Malaria and Syphilis before they are transfused
o A person who has had Hepatitis on or after the age of eleven (11)
o A person who has had Malaria in the past two (2) years
o A person in the moment of donation who is ill
o A person suffering permanently from:
o Asthma, Rheumatic Fever
o Hypertension
o Goitre
o Heart Disease
o Stroke
o Epilepsy (Seizures)
o Diabetes
o Brucellosis
o Blood Disease
o Cancer
o HIV/AIDS
o Within one year after
Major surgery, transfusion of blood and blood products, pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion or cesarean-section
o Within one week after menstruation
